Today is the tenth of Tevet (Asarah BeTevet) according to the Jewish calendar, a minor fast day. It marks the start of the siege of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar and his Bazbylonian army. This year, because of what’s going on in Jerusalem with the weather, there is some added poignacy. (But I am still hungry, and it’s only breakfast time!) Oh, and as Susan points out, it’s also Friday the thirteenth. I’ll be glad when it’s Shabbat.

[Why on Saturday? Because the weather was so bad here, it brought down our internet connection on Friday, before I could finish this.]
