Bonfire time

It’s Lag Ba’Omer tonight (Wednesday), and I am just back from a very nice batmitzvah party in Netanya, including a bonnie bonfire on the beach.

Israel goes bonfire crazy tonight, and I also spotted several on the way home. Thankfully, I saw no fire engines. Tonight is the Israeli equivalent of Guy Fawkes Night in the UK, and the firefighting forces are on high alert. I am praying for an incident free Lag Ba’Omer, but don’t expect it.

Then, when I got out of the car, I breathed in a lungful of smoke tainted air. Yuk. I’m almost tempted to stay indoors tomorrow, to keep away from the expected smog.
